Disgraceful

I am totally disgusted with Luis Suarez.  It is beyond my comprehension how such an amazing soccer player can be a shameful cheat and and less than human player.

Please watch the video on this url:   http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup/story/1909019/uruguays-luis-suarez-appears-to-bite-italys-giorgio-chiellini

Suarez has a history of biting opponents.  He has been suspended severely in the Premier League.  He clearly cannot control his instincts!  I wonder if there is a 12 step program for compulsive biting of opposing defenders?

I don't expect FIFA to come down strong against him.  I expect nothing from such a corrupt organization.  If it were up to me I would ban him from football for at least one year, as a repeat offender.  It is time to start having reviews of plays that were not called during the match in order to stop such blatant aggression and, as I mentioned in an earlier blog, to stop diving.

And,  much to my chagrin,  it seems like he might be moving to Barca,  a team very dear to me!

  1. Mario I was surprised that the did it during the most important football event on the planet. Players that behave that way, and referees that have questionable performances should be expelled from the tournament. Going back to Suarez, as a friend of mine from Uruguay said: He is a beast and in urgent need psychiatric treatment.

  2. Remember Zidane in THE WORLD CUP FINAL vs Italy? In that case he clearly lost his head because of the harassing by the opponent. Not justified, but easy to explain. In the case of Suarez, however, the man is clearly sick. He needs treatment and football needs him suspended.

The refereeing started horribly with several very bad calls in the first games and then, I think, it settled in a state of mediocrity. I do believe that referees should be sent home if they make clear mistakes that change the outcome of a game. I think a couple of them have been sent home for that reason already!
